INDIA bloc rally faces BJP counter

The BJP on Monday announced a launch of a month-long padyatra (March) from November 1 to expose the alleged false narratives being spread by the Congress as Rahul Gandhi rejected Delhi traders’ bodies request to postpone INDIA bloc’s rally in the Capital against vote chori (vote theft).

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will join the march in Hyderabad and Karnal on November 2 and November 5, respectively. The first phase of the BJP’s Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy campaign will run until November 5 and the second phase is scheduled from November 11 to November 30. The party will deploy senior Union ministers and chief ministers from BJP-ruled States to lead the marches in different parts of the country. BJP National President Nitin Nabin is also likely to participate in some of the events.

Insiders say during the first phase, the party plans to organise a series of public outreach programmes, foot marches, interactive sessions and press conferences across the country.

It will also hold interaction programmes in every Assembly constituency, bringing together around 200 eminent and invited citizens to discuss electoral roll revision and related issues.

The party plans extend its outreach to educational institutions, including universities, colleges, Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and coaching centres, with a particular focus on engaging young people and students. At the national level, the BJP has set a target of reaching out to more than 10 lakh young people and professionals through the campaign.

The second phase of the campaign, scheduled from November 11 to November 30, will continue the party’s nationwide outreach efforts through public engagement and mobilisation activities. Through the two-phase campaign, the BJP aims to mobilise citizens at the grassroots level and strengthen public awareness about electoral rolls and democratic processes.

Earlier, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi rejected the demand of traders’ bodies in Delhi to reschedule the protest rally. “To every trader in Delhi: We love you and hear you. The Government shut the metro, sealed our roads and locked down our Capital,” Gandhi posted on X. “With a stolen vote nothing is safe — your shop, your savings, your children’s future. Tell Modi to sack accused no. 4, Gyanesh Kumar and the protests will stop in 30 seconds,” the post added. The Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) had urged Gandhi to postpone the INDIA bloc’s November 1 rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan until after November 10, warning that it could disrupt business worth Rs 10,000 crore during the peak Diwali shopping season.

The Delhi Police had earlier issued a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) for the rally, covering security and traffic arrangements from October 25 to November 3.
