A Delhi University student was gang-raped in Ghaziabad on Saturday night. The girl was raped in a car parked in a factory which had been lying closed in Sahibabad Industrial area. Police said the girl who lives with her elder sister in Rajendra Nagar residential locality of Ghaziabad was gang-raped by two men when she accompanied her driver Yogesh to Mohan Nagar to collect the papers of the car she had recently bought.
The victim alleged that at around 8.30 pm, her driver asked her to accompany him to collect the papers from the seller of the car. On the way, the driver diverted the car towards Sahibabad Industrial area and picked up a man. "When asked whom he was picking up, the driver said he was his friend who needed a lift to go in the same direction where they were going," the victim said.
"The driver took the car to an unknown place and parked the car at an abandoned plot of the factory which was lying closed for the past few months. The driver, a resident of Sanjay Colony, and his accomplice took turns to rape the girl inside the car. The other man was being called by the name Asif. They confined her in the car till midnight and switched off her mobile phone. At around12:30 am the girl managed to contact her sister and brother-in-law who approached the police station and a complaint was lodged," a police officer said.
"On the victim's complaint, we have registered a case of rape and have arrested Yogesh, the driver of the victim. Raids are being conducted to arrest the other culprit who has been identified as Asif, a resident of Maharajpur. The victim has been sent for medical examination," said Circle Officer Rajesh Pandey.
