Delhi Police deny nod for Diljit show over security concerns

The Delhi Police has denied permission for Diljit Dosanjh’s October 30 concert at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, effectively killing the opening night of his Aura India Tour and leaving thousands of ticket holders stranded.

The decision was communicated to the concert’s ticketing partner BookMyShow in a formal letter from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, South District. The grounds for refusal were threefold: the specific threat inputs, the significant security and law and order implications of the current festive season and several other unspecified law and order issues.

Senior officers have confirmed the threat inputs are related to reports of possible risks emanating from Khalistani separatist elements (an input which Dosanjh’s team had already raised with police).
