A Joint Director in the Ministry of Defence has been booked for molesting a 14-year-old girl in the neighbourhood. As per the victim’s account, the incident occurred outside her home in Rohini Sector-18 on Monday when she was playing Holi with her friends. The statement of the victim has been recorded and an FIR has been registered, but no arrest has been made so far, said a police officer.

The girl, a student of Class IX, complained in the FIR that while she was celebrating the festival with her friends, her elderly neighbour approached her and forced her to accompany him to his house. The accused tried to drag her inside his home.

“But the victim managed to rescue herself from his clutches and rushed to her residence,” a police source said, adding that police will ascertain whether the accused was drunk at the time of the incident.

Although the teenaged girl was petrified with the sudden absurd behaviour of her elderly neighbour, she mustered courage and narrated the whole incident to her mother later.

“The victim’s father then approached the police. After recording the statement of the victim under Section 164 of the CrPC, a case under several sections of the Protection Of Children From Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was registered at Samaypur Badli police station of Outer Delhi.

“We are now recording the statement of neighbours and victim’s friends. We will issue a notice under Section 160 of the CrPC to the accused to join us for questioning,” the officer added.
