'Cong trying to sabotage mission resurgent India'

Attacking the Congress for stalling the proceedings in Parliament, the BJP Parliamentary Party on Tuesday described the Opposition party’s stand as “narrow minded”, “partisan, “obstructionist” and “anti-development”.

The party singled out Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party vice-president Rahul Gandhi for orchestrating the disruption in Parliament. The BJP said while the Government was trying to reach out to the Congress, they are backing out.

“The policy of disruption of Parliament being adopted by the Congress party since the beginning of the Monsoon Session of Parliament on July 21, 2015 has invoked widespread public resentment across the country. The people of the country have come to realise that the Congress is doing so to create hurdles to the Modi-led NDA Government’s determined efforts to build a resurgent India,” said a resolution passed in the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting.

The hard-hitting resolution issued by the party a day after the lok Sabha Speaker suspended 25 Congress MPs from the lok Sabha for disrupting the proceedings, said, “It is unfortunate that the Congress party which claims a history of about 130 years and the record of having ruled the country for over five decades is still not able to digest their humiliating defeat in the general elections of 2014 and the people of the country giving an absolute majority in the lok Sabha for the Government led by Shri Narendra Modi, after three decades.”

The BJP maintained that higher productivity of previous sessions has shocked the Congress which has evolved a strategy of halting the Government’s efforts to take forward major reforms required for reviving the economy.

“This has emerged as the political strategy of the Congress party which is being implemented with more vigour and determination from this Monsoon Session,” said the BJP.

The resolution maintained that in a short span of one year in office, the NDA Government has unveiled significant initiatives for the social and economic development in the country.

It said the entire record of governance of the NDA Government led by Modi “is transparent, based upon probity and propriety” and faster decision making in public interest “without an iota of corruption.”

The BJP Parliamentary Party condemned what it described as “narrow-minded, partisan, obstructionist and anti-development approach” of the Congress which, it said “would have serious and long-term adverse consequences for the country which is poised to emerge as a major economic global power.”

The BJP ridiculed the Congress leadership for describing the suspension of 25 Congress as “black day for democracy” and cited how 63 Opposition MPs were suspended on March 15, 1989 for demanding tabling of Report of Justice Thakkar Commission on the assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

later at a Press conference, Union Minister and senior BJP leader Prakash Javadekar said there was no democracy in the DNA of the Opposition party which is ruled by “maa-beta” (mother-son).

Javadekar also blamed the Congress chief and the vice-chief for the disruption of Monsoon Session of Parliament and alleged that the Opposition party was driven by “ineptitude” and its “jealousy” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “successes”. “Sonia and Rahul Gandhi are squarely responsible for the logjam. The Speaker’s decision to suspend 25 members is right,” he said as he cited the use of marshals in the House to remove eight Samajwadi Party members, who were protesting against the Women Reservation Bill, and other instances during the Congress-led Governments.

The BJP said Modi will speak in Parliament if the Opposition allows House to function and cited several instances of the Government making efforts to break the impasse.
