ClARIFICATION

Pioneer

With reference to the news story titled “Tughlakabad ICD out, biodiversity park in”, published on the front page of The Pioneer on June 14, ICD Tughlakabad (ICD-TKD) wants to make it clear to the general public and all the stakeholders that Inland Container Depot, Tughlakabad, being run by CONCOR, is located on the land belonging to the Indian Railways, and DDA has no role or jurisdiction over the land.

Since the land on which ICD-TKD is situated belongs to the Indian Railways, there is no such move of shifting of ICD-TKD. The news item “Tughlakabad ICD out, biodiversity park in” is devoid of facts and looks to be published on a hearsay without any proper verification.  In view of the importance of ICD-TKD and its prominent role in the business environment of Delhi, it is clarified that the news item is not correct.

ICD-TKD, which serves the trade requirement of Delhi, has state-of-the-art equipment and infrastructure to handle all aspects of EXIM trade and logistics. In the recent incident of leakage of chloromethyl pyridine, CONCOR has proactively restricted handling of hazardous cargo as per the IMDG code, which governs movement of international cargo.  The role of CONCOR was appreciated by the honourable High Court of Delhi.  It is also very clearly brought out that ICD-TKD is serving the business requirements of Delhi area in a very efficient and effective manner reducing the pollution levels.  It is a well recognised fact that rail transport is an environment friendly and efficient transport compared to road.  It is also an established fact that rail transport reduces the emissions and thereby pollution.  Each container movement helps in reducing the number of trucks plying on the road.
