The CBI on Saturday seized an AgustaWestland AW109SP Grand New Helicopter from the Pune property of one of the accused of India’s biggest bank loan fraud worth Rs 34,615 crore relating to DHFL.
The helicopter was found parked in a hangar on the premises of Avinash Bhosale at Baner Road, Pune, the CBI said. Bhosale along with Kapil and Dheeraj Wadhawans, DHFL promoters and masterminds, besides others are accused of cheating a consortium of 17 banks led by Union Bank of India.
“During investigation of the CBI case in respect of cheating of over Rs 34,000 crore of Union Bank of India-led consortium of 17 banks by DHFL, its promoters (Wadhawan brothers) and others, it has come to light that RKW Developers Pvt Ltd (a company owned by Wadhawan family) allegedly has stakes in Varva Aviation (an Association of Persons) which owns an AW109SP Grand New Helicopter (AgustaWestland Helicopter) which was allegedly purchased in 2011,” the CBI said in a statement.
RKW Developers Pvt Ltd joined the Association of Persons in 2017, contributing towards cost price and maintenance of the said helicopter. ABIL Infraprojects Ltd, a company owned by Avinash Bhosale, has a stake in the said helicopter, the agency said.
“As it was allegedly apprehended that the funds used for making payment towards the stake in Association of Persons, were sourced from loan funds sanctioned by different banks, therefore, today i.e. on 30.07.2022, the CBI has seized the helicopter which has been found parked in a hangar on the premises of Avinash Bhosale at Baner Road, Pune,” the agency added.
A couple of days ago, the CBI had seized luxury watches worth over Rs 1 crore and paintings worth Rs 38 crore from the Wadhawans and others linked to the scam.
