Mumbaikars may have heaved a sigh of relief owing to a let-up in rain for better part of Saturday, but the country’s commercial capital is expected to reel under wet spell and high tide during the next 48 hours. A day after the heavy rain wreaked havoc in the metropolis and its suburbs exposing yet again the unpreparedness of the civic authorities to deal with the heavy flooding that takes place across the city during high tide conditions, life limped back to normalcy, with no fresh major downpour reported from any part of the city for most part of the day.
However, the city and its suburbs began to experience heavy rain on Saturday evening — albeit intermittently. The Mumbai-based Regional Meteorological Centre has predicted intermittent rain at all places and “heavy to very heavy rain” at a few places in Mumbai and its suburbs during the next 48 hours, in a clear indication of the fact that the metropolis will continue to reel under a wet spell for the next two days.
