The Trinamool Congress on Saturday put BJP president Amit Shah on a 72-hour notice asking him to apologise for humiliating Bengal or face legal measures.
“Amit Shah came to Bengal to humiliate its culture and people. He does not understand Bengal and its people. He is ignorant about our culture and rich tradition, and he is not capable of understanding its greatness so it is pointless to argue with him. But whatever he said here were all blatant lies and will have to apologise for this. If he does not do so in 24 or 48 or 72 hours then he will face legal action,” TMC leader and MP Derek O’Brien said.
On scams referred to by Shah in his speech under the TMC-run Bengal Government, O’Brien wondered “what you are talking about cheatingij look at your own affidavit. You are a dangabaaz. We will not allow your Gujarat type politics of robbery and dacoity in Bengal. We will not allow to stay you in this State”.
He said communal politics of the BJP would not work in Bengal and no amount of mud-slinging on the Mamata Government would bring the BJP to power in the State.”
His party colleague and TMC general secretary Partho Chatterjee called Shah’s meeting a flop show. “Where you need people from other States to fill up the crowd then it is easily understandable how strong you are. The meeting is a complete flop,” he maintained.
