The terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir have been directed to eliminate 100-150 Amarnath pilgrims and over 100 policemen to trigger communal tension in different parts of India, a fresh Intelligence input accessed by the J&K Police has revealed.

The 40-day long annual pilgrimage is starting from June 29. To prevent any terror attack on pilgrims, the State Government has made elaborate security arrangements.

At least 30,000 security personnel have been deployed along the entire yatra route and at different base camps of pilgrims in Jammu & Kashmir division.

According to the Intelligence input, “the terrorists have been directed to target the convoy of Amarnath pilgrims along the yatra route as their handlers believed it will result in flaring of communal tensions throughout the nation”.

A senior most police officer of Kashmir zone immediately alerted the entire security grid on June 25, 2017 soon after he received latest Intelligence report based on the input received from senior police officer in Anantnag.

According to the official sources privy to the latest intelligence input, “the input assessed is believed to be a Human Intelligence”.

Official sources claimed, “though nature of input needs further corroboration, at this stage the possibility of some sensational attack by terrorist outfit cannot be ruled”.

Official sources claimed, “All the officer/officials deployed on ground have been directed to remain alert and maintain utmost vigil and take all precautionary measures to defeat the nefarious designs of these anti-national elements.

“All out efforts needs to be taken to nab the terrorists who are planning such attempts of violence”, senior police officers claimed.

Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh told reporters in Jammu on Monday, “J&K Government and police doing their best to ensure security of pilgrims. He said, “30,000 security personnel have been deployed along Amarnath yatra route to ensure their security.

“We are fully prepared for Amarnath yatra, important aspects like security and basic arrangements for yatra taken care of”, he added.

Meanwhile, Central Reserve Police Force, entrusted with the job of securing yatra route and base camps in Jammu & Kashmir division have taken charge of security duties in advance.

The CRPF is relying heavily on electronic surveillance this year to prevent any miscreant from targeting the pilgrims.

“We are using ‘Trinetra -- an Unmanned aerial vehicle’ flown at a height of 400 metres to track down the suspected movement in and around base camps. We have also equipped our Quick reaction teams (QRT) with latest communication equipment and weapons. Dog squads have been deployed on ground zero and X-ray scanners are also in place to detect presence of explosives, senior CRPF officer told reporters in Jammu. Army and state police force are also deployed in multi tier security ring along the border routes to prevent any infiltrator from coming closer to the national highway through which yatra convoy passes to prevent any terror attack on pilgrims.
