Sarita now faces punishment with the International Boxing Association (AIBA) initiating its “disciplinary action process” to look into her refusal to accept the medal. A decision will be made immediately after the Asian Games, an AIBA release said.
“The incident looked like a well-planned scenario by her (Sarita) and her team, and it is regretful to watch a boxer refuse the medal regardless of what happened in the competition,” David B Francis, an AIBA supervisor, said in his report to the Olympic Council of Asia.Ironically, there was no mention of the gross injustice meted out to Sarita in the report.
