Four schoolchildren, including a three-year-old girl, were burnt to death when a private school’s mini van caught fire in Sangrur on Saturday.
It was a miraculous escape for eight others as a total of 12 children were traveling in the ill-fated mini-van on way back from the school, police said.
“Preliminary enquiry indicates the rickety van was being run illegally as per a report of District Transport Officer,” said Sangrur Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori.
