Delhi’s connectivity to its neighbouring cities is set to improve with the Railway Ministry announcing three semi-bullet or high-speed trains. Of the nine semi-bullet trains announced in the Budget, three trains will run from Delhi to Agra, to Chandigarh, and to Kanpur. These high-speed trains would run at the speed of 160-200 km per hour and will complete the journey in less than two hours which usually takes three to seven hours.

In additional to this, the Railways have announced ten Delhi-bound trains, besides extending the run of three existing trains. Meanwhile, to make the journey more pleasant for the passengers, the Railways have announced the unique facility of ordering regional cuisine through SMS or e-mail or specially designed application for smart phones while on the move. On reaching the station, the desired food will be served to the passengers.

The pilot project has been proposed on two busy rail corridors — Delhi to Amritsar and Delhi to Jammu Tawi.
