SoftBank announces $20-bn solar project
New Delhi: Japan’s SoftBank Corp on Monday announced
investment of $20 billion in setting up solar power projects in India in partnership with telecom giant Bharti Enterprises and Taiwan’s Foxconn.
Mumbai hooch toll at 100; govt to amend law
Mumbai: The death toll in the Mumbai hooch tragedy — the worst in 11 years in Maharashtra — shot up to 100 on Monday, police said. In order to stop the production and sale of illicit liquor, the Maharashtra Government is considering a proposal to amend the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Slumlords, Bootleggers, Drug Offenders and Dangerous Persons Act.
K’taka in trouble for distorting India’s map
Bengaluru: The Karnataka Government on Monday landed in a controversy over a distorted map of India in an advertisement allegedly published by it in a Malaysian magazine, showing part of J&K and the North-East missing from it. The BJP, which pointed out the lapse, sought an explanation from the Congress Government.
