The
Sonam Kapoor-Anand Ahuja wedding might have been in the news thanks to the breathless coverage by all forms of media, social and otherwise (so do we call newspapers anti-social now)IJ But it was the tying of the saris, the quintessential Indian garment, or rather their untying that had us in a bind. Rekha and Kangana Ranaut, both known for their fashion sensibilities and their choice of saris, seem to have done a rush job of it. Rekha, the ultimate fashion diva, who always looks oh-so-resplendent, wore a modern take on a sari – that threatened to fall apart any time.
Modern takes can be funky, fun and so much more – but this one was a hash. But she was not the only one indulging in the fashion faux pas where the Indian roots seemed to have gone for a toss. Kangana Ranaut, the eclectic clothes horse, seemed to have wrapped it up in such a hurry that the folds went missing. She definitely did a better job with the one which she wore to airport. It was left to Jacqueline Fernandes and her ethereal white number to actually rescue the sari and make it what it is meant to be -- sensuous, beautiful and sexy.
