Missing: Civic Sense

Pioneer

That Delhiites are loud, brash and love to flaunt their money is common knowledge. That they are pushy and can go to any length to ensure that they are not discomforted is also true. That they are full of rage and are out to draw blood is something that we hear and read about constantly. Some of us have even been at the receiving end of all this pent up emotion. What is worse is that all this fury is found in people who call themselves ‘polished and educated’.

It should not come as a surprise when people just park their cars in the middle of the road to hop across to buy ice-cream for their child or even some fruit and vegetables. Arguing with these well-heeled  and educated people is like hitting your head against the wall for the simple reason that they will never discomfort themselves even if that means they are hugely discomforting others. There are other people on the road as well but turning a blind eye to them is a Delhi special!

Recently, a office going professional found that the entry to her office was blocked because two people decided that it was dandy to park their car in front of the gate and walk to their office. Assuming that these people are ‘educated’ (they work in an office), one wonders what made them think that they could park in such a ‘brilliant manner’ (see photo). Definitely, it is all about missing a lesson on civic sense.
