A youth was shot dead while his brother escaped with injuries when a group of men opened fire on them in Bagpat on Saturday evening. The reason behind the attack is said to be old rivalry.
The deceased identified as Vikram of Sultanpur Hatana village under Badaut police station area, was sitting with his brother Vipin outside his house when their rivals Mullu and Gagan, both of same village, along with other two unidentified miscreants reached there. The group was wielding pistols in their hand. Without any provocation they opened firing spraying Vikram and Vipin with bullets. The miscreants fled the scene before victims’ family members and villagers rushed the crime scene for their help.
Vikram succumbed to injuries on the spot at he suffered a gun shot at his chest while Vipin slumped down due to attack. The family members rushed the duo to hospital where the doctors declared Vikram dead. Vipin is under treatment and his condition is critical. The police said old rivalry on property related issue was motive behind thefatal attack. The family named the above said miscreants in the case. The police registered a case and efforts to track down the miscreants are on. The incident caused the villagers to split in two camps intensifying the tension in the village. Huge police force was deployed in the area to control the situation. The police have expedited the search for the miscreants after supporters of victims demanded to arrest the miscreants soon.
