Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath interacted with beneficiaries of the government’s public welfare schemes through video-conferencing and transferred Rs 315 crore to 1.51 lakh self-help groups (SHGs) and 11,000 bank correspondent (BC) sakhis digitally.
Yogi was participating in ‘Garib Kalyan Sammelan’ organised in Shimla in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi through video-conferencing from Lucknow. Deputy CMs Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak were also present on the occasion.
Congratulating the Union government on the successful completion of eight years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yogi said that in these years, the country made a defining mark on global level and every scheme of governance was taken to every village.
“Uttar Pradesh is the only state where every household in the villages is getting banking facilities at their doorsteps through BC sakhis, signifying a real change,” the chief minister said.
Yogi said that the prime minister had given the slogan of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ in 2013-14, which seems to be being fulfilled in the present time. In the last eight years, more than 3 crore families got houses in the country, of which 43.50 lakh poor were given houses in Uttar Pradesh alone.
“Under PM Awas Yojana, Rs 1.20 lakh is given for construction of houses in rural areas and Rs 2.5 lakh in urban areas. The norms have also been relaxed for benefiting the scheme in urban areas. In the survey of 2011-12, poor people whose names were left out, were linked with the Chief Minister’s Housing Scheme, due to which members of castes like Vantangia, Musahar could also be given the benefit,” he said.
About the construction of toilets, Yogi said that more than 11 crore families were provided toilets in the country, while 2.61 crore families got the benefit in Uttar Pradesh. “Along with this, community toilets were constructed in every gram sabha and women were also given employment. These toilets were named as ‘Izzatghar’ - meaning protecting the dignity of women,” he said.
The chief minister said that 1.67 crore people were connected with Ujjwala scheme in Uttar Pradesh. “Prior to 2014, people had to face police batons to get gas cylinders, but now these cylinders are being given free of cost. Even now we are going to give two cylinders free every year, it will start from this Diwali,” he said.
“UP had sufficient land resources, yet the poor were denied drinking water. Now every household is going to get pure RO water under the tap scheme. In urban areas, this has been linked to the AMRUT scheme,” Yogi said.
The chief minister claimed that no citizen slept hungry during the Covid pandemic. “Through ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ and Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, free ration was provided to every citizen. Also, the 11th installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi will be made available soon,” he said.
Yogi spoke to BC sakhi Priyanka Maurya of Sultanpur, Gudiya of Bahraich, Ilu Sharma of Mathura, Gudiya of Unnao, Saroja Devi of Sultanpur, Poonam and Kusum of Etawah. She told the chief minister that her monthly income was about Rs 26,000 and she managed to open her centre. Appreciating this, Yogi said, “The work you are doing is an example for the rest of the women of the society.”
The chief minister also said that due to these schemes, girls were going to school. “All sections of people had started getting the benefit of Kanya Sumangala Yojana without any discrimination. I appeal to all the people to connect their daughters with Kanya Sumangala schemes,” he said.
