Facing opposition barbs over the plight of farmers, the Yogi government decided to set up a four-member committee to will look into the problems faced by potato growers and suggest ways to ameliorate their grievances. The committee will be headed by Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya.
Government spokesman and Power minister Shrikant Sharma said that the committee has been asked to submit its report to the government within 15 days.
“The other members of the committee will be Agriculture minister Surya Pratap Shahi, Finance minister Rajesh Agarwal and Forest minister Dara Singh Chauhan,” the spokesman said on Tuesday.
The opposition had put Government on the mat after some farmers threw potatoes outside Vidhan Bhawan, Governor’s House and Chief Minister’s residence to protest government apathy towards potatoes farmers who were facing problems for not getting adequate price for their produce.
“This government is alive to the problems of the farmers and will try to find a a middle path,” the spokesman said.
