In order to protect environment, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has come up with the unique idea of planting at least 10 trees for every tree cut in the state capital.
Chairing the ninth meeting of UP State Wildlife Board in Lucknow on Monday night, Yogi Adityanath said that a proposal would be made for setting up a Lion Safari in Kukrail forest area of Lucknow.
The Forest department runs a crocodile/ghariyal and tortoise breeding zone at Kukrail.
‘’Kukrail forest area should be made a tourist attraction, where, along with crocodiles, ghariyals and tortoise, a project for a lion safari should be started,’’ Yogi directed Forest department officials.
In his address, the Chief Minister said, “Every district should have one eco-destination for tourism, but hotels for tourists should be constructed outside the forest zone.”
Yogi also made it clear that strict action would be taken against permanent stay of tourists at one place in the forest area.
“The district magistrates and other officials should keep a close watch on tourists and make sure that they don’t stay at one place for more than three days,” he added.
The Chief Minister also asked Forest officials to protect wild animals, especially in Ranipur tiger reserve where development work is underway for the Bundelkhand Expressway.
