Yogi failed to end corruption, Ministers over BJP defeat

PNS

Voices of dissent have started emanating from the BJP after its candidates suffered ignominious defeat in Kairana lok Sabha and Noorpur Assembly bypolls on Thursday. Ruling party law makers and ministers in the state government attacked Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath saying he had failed to end corruption.

Two BJP MlAs, one from Ballia and the other from Hardoi praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi but blamed Yogi and his government for failing to control corruption which led to the shock defeats.

Suheldeo Bharatiya Samaj Party chief and cabinet minister Om Prakash Rajbhar too continued to raise his voice against the BJP government over misgovernance and prevailing corruption.

BJP MlA from Gopamau Assembly segment in Hardoi, Shyam Prakash on Friday alleged that state officers were corrupt. “Farmers are not at all happy with the government as offiocers are not listening to them. There are several other reasons responsible for the party’s debacle,” he said without elaborating.

Maintaining that he had nothing against the government, the MlA blamed officers saying they were brining the government into disrepute. “Corruption is on the rise as compared to the last government. That’s the reason of my resentment,” he explained.

Shyam Prakash also wrote a five-line poem on his Facebook account claiming that Modi still was the most popular leader of the country and the BJP and no one could defeat him.

Meanwhile, another BJP MlA from Beria Assembly segment of Ballia, Surendra Singh said that the CM should take responsibility of the defeat.

“It is true that PM did not campaign in the bypolls, but the CM addressed two rallies. Hence, the CM should take the blame. Such defeats have strengthened the opposition which has now ganged up against Prime Minister Modi,” he said .

Singh too claimed that there was corruption in the government. “The entire government is engaged in corruption and people were not getting benefit of welfare schemes. They are angry and had hence voted against the BJP,” he said.

SBSP chief Om Prakash Rajbhar too aimed his his barbs at the government saying that a corrupt regime could not win the hearts of the people.

“The Chief Minister should act tough against the officials, else people will not support the BJP at all and it will lose the 2019 general elections,” he said.
