Continuing his attack against the Congress and the CPM on the second day of his marathon electoral campaign in Tripura, which is going to polls on February 16, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanah said on Wednesday that during their governments, anarchy reigned supreme, faith and saints were disrespected, and infiltrators were let into the state.

CM Yogi held Vijay Sankalp rallies in Fatikroy assembly constituency of Unakoti district as well as Suryamaninagar and Majlispur assembly constituencies of West Tripura districts to seek votes for sitting BJP MLAs and candidates Sudhanshu Das, Ram Prasad Pal, and Sushant Chowdhary respectively.

CM Yogi said, "The CPM ruled Tripura for 35 years and the Congress also remained in power in the state for several years, but they only wreaked havoc on the state through their misgovernance."

“During their governments, there was no rule of law in the state and rampant violence. Women and daughters were not safe, youth were without jobs, and farmers’ interests were not protected. People of scheduled castes were not given land deeds and the benefits of the welfare schemes did not reach the poor. No highways were built and road connectivity took a back seat on their priority list. Even the state’s security was compromised by allowing infiltrations while saints were disrespected,” he added.

Drawing a contrast BJP’s government rule, Yogi added: "In the last five years of the double-engine government in the state, you have witnessed the establishment of rule of law and the end of violence." Religious festivals are celebrated peacefully in the state now, and proper respect is being given to saints now. The government accords priority to daughters’ safety, therefore, women police stations have been set up in the state. Besides, the government has provided 33 percent reservation for women in government jobs,” he further added.

He also pointed out that during the last five years of the BJP government, 3 lakh houses have been provided to the poor under PM Awas Yojana, 2.70 lakh LPG connections have been given for free, 2.50 lakh farmers have benefited from PM Kisan Samman Nidhi and poor people have accessed health insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakh under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Besides, medical and engineering colleges and schools are also being built.

The CM added: "During the novel coronavirus pandemic, free tests were done and the government gave free vaccines and free food. Had the Congress and CPM been there, they would have sold the vaccines, looted the rations and captured the houses meant for the poor.

He said that BJP government led by PM Modi was working with the motto "Sabka Saath, Sabka vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas" and was delivering the benefits of welfare schemes to the people without any kind of discrimination.

The Uttar Pradesh CM further said, “I come from the Sant tradition and as the chief minister of one of the largest states in India serving people and also overseeing the construction of a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya. Under the PM‘s leadership, heritage is also getting its due respect. The airport in Agartala has been named after Maharaja Veer Vikram.,”

“Under the BJP government, the NorthEast region is making rapid strides in development with bullet train’s speed,” he added.

CM Yogi who also offered prayers at the Gorakashnath Temple located at Dhaleswar in Agartala,  urged people to teach rival candidates a lesson for their parties’ misrule in the state in the past. He also made an appeal to saints to visit villages to seek votes for the BJP’s candidate.

CM Yogi also said that only the Bharatiya Janata Party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were capable of protecting the country and the interests of its citizens, mentioning the Balakot airstrike in this context. "It’s the new India." Here, there is no room for violence or terrorism. The Chief Minister also invited people to have a darshan of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya on the completion of the grand Ram next year.
