Rashtriya Lok Dal national secretary Anil Dubey, on Sunday, demanded immediate withdrawal of the Agnipath scheme launched by the government for “short term” recruitment in the army, terming it as “contractual service”.
In a press statement, Dubey said the Central government should take back the decision on introducing Agnipath in view of the sentiments of youths aspiring to join the army forces and for the good of the country and its people.
He also appealed to the agitated youths to protest in a peaceful and democratic way and shun violence which has marred the very cause of their protest.
“Indian Army is the bravest army in the world and is renowned for its glorious past and bravery. To increase the efficiency further, the recruitment should be on a permanent basis instead of a short term period,” he said, and asked the government to take back its Agnipath scheme.
