The beginning of the Winter Session in Legislative Council witnessed uproarious scenes with angry opposition members protesting vociferously, leading to adjournment of the House. As soon the Council met on Tuesday morning, Leader of Opposition Ahmed Hassan raised the issue of cane-charge on students of Aligarh Muslim University, rising cases of rape and murder etc, and asked for a debate.
However, the ruling party members objected, claiming that the debate could not be allowed during Question Hour.
On this, the members of SP and Congress rushed to the Well of the House raising slogans against the government, forcing the Chairman to first suspend the proceedings for a brief period and later till 12:20 pm, leading to no business during Question Hour.
When the House re-assembled in the afternoon, Leader of the House Dinesh Sharma, tabled the supplementary budget. Later, during adjournment motion, the SP members again raised the issue of Citizenship Amendment Act and dissatisfied with the reply, they walked out of the House along with Congress members.
