Will ensure betterment of education in rural areas: CM

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav stressed on Sunday that the private sector should come forward and set up educational institutions at small cities to bring about a qualitative change in the standard of education. He also ensured all help in setting up schools.

“Quality education should not be limited to big cities and metros only. The light of knowledge should also permeate to the smaller cities and villages. While the government is trying to improve the quality of education in rural areas, private entrepreneurs should also take responsibility in setting up educational institutions in small cities and hamlets,” Yadav said while inaugurating a private school on Sunday.

The CM said that the government is doing its bit in improving the quality of education. Qualified teachers are being appointed all across the state while funds have been adequately pumped in to build infrastructure, including buildings and providing other facilities.

“Despite our efforts, we are not able to impart quality education in primary and secondary sectors. This is a matter of great concern for us. The government has to strive hard to ensure better education to students at the village level and we will do whatever is required from our end,” Yadav said.

“The time has come that private institutions should also think of setting up schools at smaller cities. Many prominent houses have set up institutions in UP and  the government has ensured all help to them. We also invite other private players to set up schools in smaller cities,” Chief Minister said.

He said that in the last four years, many private players have set up shop in UP. "This has been possible because we built infrastructure and have given them the confidence to invest here. As investments have come in other sectors, we invite private players to invest in educational sector too which directly helps in building a well educated society, he said.

Yadav also spoke on steps that his government has taken in Health and Education sector. “The HCl campus is coming up in Chak Gajaria (CG) City. Medanta is setting up a super-speciality hospital while Amul is also setting up its unit in CG City. This shows that the confidence level is going up among private players. This confidence should pass on others who work in the education sector,” he hoped.
