Water crisis will end in Bundelkhand:Yogi

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reiterated that the BJP Government will solve water crisis in the rugged Bundelkhand region at the earliest as it was committed to making this region prosperous so that youth were not forced to go out in search of jobs.

“I know the problem the people of this region are facing. We have chalked out a plan to mitigate people’s sufferings. Once the plan is implemented, water crisis of the region will be solved to a larger extent,” Yogi said while addressing a rally in Chitrakoot on Monday.

The Chief Minister said that the region was lagging behind because of large scale exodus. People, particularly youth, are forced to move out because of lack of development in the region. The area also lags behind in development due to water scarcity which affected agricultural production.

“It is my government’s commitment to provide water to Bundelkhand. We are working in the direction and hope that we will start getting results very soon,” Yogi said but did not elaborate on the plan or when it will be implemented.

“We will not allow people to crave for water any more. My government is ready to pump in money. No project of Bundelkhand will stop because of lack of funds. I want to bring Bundelkhand at par with other regions of the state including western UP,” he said and added that infrastructure like houses and roads were being built in this area.

Yogi also spoke about providing employment to the youth of the region and how Bundelkhand Expressway would open a window of opportunity for them as industries would be set up along the highway.

“A beginning has been made and results will come in no time.  For some, this looks impossible. They are the same bunch of people who had earlier said that law and order in UP can not improve. We have proved in six months that crime can be brought under control if you have the political will,” the Chief Minister said.

Yogi said that his government was providing free power connections to the poor and houses were being given to BPl families under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

“We will provide a corruption-free government. I invite people to record conversation if officers ask for bribe and lodge complaints. The government will take strict action against them,” he said.

Earlier in the day, the CM kicked off Swachchta Abhiyan by picking up a broom and cleaning Patel crossing in Citrakoot and was joined by hundreds of party workers. The campaign that started with ‘Jai Sri Ram’, continued till the lIC crossing of the town.

“This campaign cannot be succeed without support from people.  We should make it a principle not to litter roads. If we can keep our roads and mohulla clean, the face of city will change in a short time,” Yogi said.
