Veteran Congress leader and former UP governor, Moti lal Vora rejected media projection of complete rout for United Progressive Alliance (UPA) in the coming elections. He
said that once the result would come, the clear picture would automatically emerge and Congress will form UPA Third in the Centre.
``There are lot of clouds over the sky in the present election particularly due to projection by media through poll surveys but I can say once this cloud will be clear, the true picture would emerge before you all and UPA third will form government", asserted senior Congress leader Moti lal Vora, while replying to a question on his view over recent poll surveys which showed Congress in a very poor position. He said that this election is a direct fight between two idelogies, one which ensure progress and development of the entire society and other which rotates around just one person who wanted to divide the society just to make political gains.
Vora was talking to media persons here at Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) office on Saturday afternoon. He arrived on a short visit to state capital to attend the function organised to file nomination of Rita Bahuguna Joshi for lucknow Parliamentary seat. When asked about recent controversial statement of Bharatiya Janta Partys national general secretary, Amit Shah, who is also incharge of the Party affairs here in UP, Congress leader replied that he was not aware of it but said that Congress never support division of community on religion or any other line. ``We never talk of dividing the society but always advocate and promote secular values where all religion and caste should be given same respect and honour", Vora said while showing his concern over the recent riots in Muzaffarnagar. On controversy raised by BJP over Congress president, Sonia Gandhi’s visit to seek support Maulana Abdullah Bukhari, Vora replied that the Imam of Jama Maszid had already made a remark in this regard and he did not wanted to say any thing more.
Replying to a query that whether Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is going to enter into active politics, Vora said that she is already active campaigning in Amethi and Rae Bareli, and if she wanted she can also go to seek votes in other places too. However, he said that the question of Priyanka joining politics is solely her decision or her family could decide on the issue. About purpose of his visit to lucknow, Vora said that he had a special bond for this city so he grabbed the opportunity to meet the local people by attending the nomination filing ceremony of Rita Bahuguna Joshi.
Commenting on the prospect of Rita Bahuguna Joshi, particularly when she was facing Bharatiya Janta Party’s national president, Rajnath Singh, and lucknow also a strong-hold of saffron brigade, Vora said that last time Rita had proved herself so he is confident that this time she would win by a big margin. Former governor also added that Rajnath’s candidature made no affect and people of lucknow already taught him a lesson when he contested MlA election and now the BJP president would met same fate in the direct fight with Congress candidate Rita Bahuguna Joshi.
Meanwhile president of All India Mahila Congress Committee, Shobha Ojha condemned the statement of Amit Shah, made in Muzaffarnagar and demanded his arrest. Claiming that Bharatiya Janta Party existence had already ended after their leaders just talk of Narendra Modi, Shobha alleged that if BJP would come to power, they will implement `Gujrat Model’ where calls of females and bureaucrats were recorded, who-so-ever raised head was silenced, and entire emphasis is on dividing the society of basis of caste and religion. Shobha made the above comments while talking to media persons on Saturday evening. Reacting to Amit Shah’s statement in which he dared everyone to come and fuel communal tension in Gujrat under Modi’s regime, Shobha said that Shah was making right claims as it is he who was master of orchestrating communal riots.
