Raising the Ram Temple issue BJP Rajya Sabha member MP Vinay Katiyar appealed to the government to bring legislation in the Parliament for construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya to “satisfy Rambhakats who had fought for the issue”. “Its high time the Central Government should bring a bill for construction of Ram temple in lok Sabha. We have majority there. At least Ram Bhakts should see that something is being done on the matter. If land Accquistion Bill can be brought in lok Sabha..why not a bill for construction of Ram Temple,” he questioned while talking to reporters here on Wednesday. He said that Ram Bhakts have made a lot of sacrifices for construction of Ram temple. We will go to any extent to fulfill the aspirations of people. We will not let anyone forget the matter,” he said.
Katiyar said that a break through was almost achieved during Atal Bihar Vajpayee’s time. The present Government should tread on this line and start negotiations with Muslim. “At least some beginning should be made. One year had passed but nothing has been done. I hope government is not ignoring the matter but it is our responsibility to remind government about its commitment,” he said. The BJP leader did not forget to mention the Godhra attack and the Gujarat riots, saying that Ayodhya issue is directly related to these incidents. “I was one of them who started the Ram temple agitation so I am responsible to remind people about it.”
Katiyar further said that when the Allahabad High Court has already delivered the judgement on the title suit accepting the claim of the Hindu organisations then there should be no problem for the Central government to move ahead on the matter even if the issue is pending before the Supreme Court. The statement of Katiyar comes days after Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had admitted that people will have to wait for Ram Temple as BJP does not have majority in Rajya Sabha besides the matter is pending in the Supreme Court. BJP president Amit Shah too reportedly said that BJP will require to win 370 seats for construction of Ram temple.
