Former Buduan chief of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Kuldeep Varshney was expelled from the primary membership of the BJP for six years on Saturday, after he announced a Rs 5 lakh bounty for any one severing the tongue of JNUSU chief Kanhaiya Kumar for ‘spewing venom against the country, his party and the PM’.
BJP district chief Harish Shakya told reporters on Saturday morning that the Party had no connection with the controversial statement of Varshney and it was his personal view. “Varshney has been expelled from the party for six years for making such unwarranted statements,” he said.
Shakya said that six months back, Varshney was removed from the post of Budaun district chief of BJYM and Ankit Maurya was appointed in his place. Kanhaiya was arrested and slapped with charges of sedition on February 12 and was released from the Tihar jail last Thursday after the Delhi High Court granted him an interim bail for six months with specific riders.
