Dismissing uncertainty over holding UP Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) amid rising COVID-19 cases, the Uttar Pradesh government announced to conduct it as per schedule on January 23.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday directed the officials to take stock of the preparation and ensure tight security arrangements for the TET. He also asked the additional chief secretary (home) and ADG (law and order) among others to monitor every arrangement through video conferencing.

Presiding over a high-level Covid review meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath told the officials that while allocating the examination centre, past records of the institute must be taken into consideration. “Institutions with tainted or suspicious images should be avoided,” he said.

To conduct fair and transparent examination, the additional chief secretary (home) and ADG (law and order), principal secretary (basic education) along with district magistrates, basic education officers, and other officers related to the examination, should monitor the arrangements through video conferencing, the chief minister instructed.

The chief minister further instructed the officials to take precautionary measures maintaining Covid safety protocols. “Ensure that the examination centres have adequate availability of masks, sanitisers, infrared thermometers,” he added.

Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2021 will be conducted in two shifts. The first shift exams will be held from 10:00 am to 12:30 am, and will be a preliminary level exam. The second shift exams will be conducted from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm. This will be an upper primary level exam.

The Uttar Pradesh government had already announced to give free bus travel to TET candidates. For this, they have to show their admit card and they will be able to travel by bus for free.

“The Transport department has issued instructions in this regard,” a government official said.

The UPTET, earlier scheduled to be held on November 28, was cancelled after the question paper leaked. Five people have been arrested for the paper leak and have been booked under the National Security Act (NSA).
