UPCC submits complaint to EC

PNS

Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee had made strong objection over the National Democratic Alliance government’s scheme openly displayed in the State despite of model code of conduct active in the State.

The Party submitted a complaint in this regard to Election Commission and requested Chief Election Officer here to take actions against posters and banners showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi at petrol pumps and nationalised banks etc.

Incharge and the UPCC media cell and vice president, Satyadev Tripathi claimed to have written a letter to Chief Election Officer to take actions against posters of PM Modi at petrol pumps in Ujjwala Scheme and in banks for many schemes. He requested that following Model Code of Conduct, these posters and banners should be removed just like the Commission had removed the display of schemes run by the State government.

Tripathi also pointed that in the electronic media also, advertisements of most of the schemes run by NDA government are openly run and the Commission so far took no notice of it. He demanded that for free and fair elections, such publicity of BJP at the cost of government exchequer should be stopped till the model code of conduct.

Meanwhile Tripathi also revealed that Party had decided to withdraw or take the names of 7 candidates back to streamline their alliance with Samajwadi Party.

He claimed that they directed lucknow (central) candidate, Maroof Khan, candidate from Bindki, Abhimanyu Singh, candidate from Soraon, Jawaharlal Diwakar, candidate from Payagpur, Bhagatram Misra, candidate from Chanbey, Bhagauti Chaudhary,  candidate from Mankapur constituency, Hanuman Prasad from and candidate from Sohratgarh,  Anil Singh, to sit in favour of SP candidates. Under alliance worked out by both the parties, Congress had got 105 of the 403 seats but due to delay in firming up the pact and some other issues candidates of both parties had jumped into the fray on certain seats. Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi had recently said this was a minor issue which would be resolved soon. However, in his own constituency Amethi and mother Sonia Gandhi’s Raebareli Parliamentary seat, both SP and Congress candidates are contesting on four seats which also included Amethi where sitting MlA and minister Gyatri Prajapati and Congress’s MP Sanjay Singh’s wife Ameeta Singh, both were in the fray.
