Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor would attract foreign investors which in turn would open new doors of investment in the state.

Singh inspected the stall of UP Defence Industrial Corridor established by the Uttar Pradesh Defence Authority (UPDA) at Aero India -2021 on Thursday.

"The next few years are set to transform the face of Uttar Pradesh as foreign investors have shown interest in the defence corridor. This will be a boon for the educated youth (of UP) who go to other states to earn their living," Singh said.

Earlier, UP's  Industrial Development Minister Satish Mahana inaugurated the stall of UP Defence Industrial Corridor at Aero India -2021 and later launched the official micro website of UP Defence Industrial Corridor. This website will provide investors information about the latest policies and updates of the corridor such as availability of land, existing basic infrastructure and connectivity at the nodes.

Mahana also met representatives of several foreign companies such as Honeywell, Ukraine and Belarus that have shown interest in investing in the defence corridor.

UP is expected to sign memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with approximately 17 companies.
