Uttar Pradesh minister and government spokesman Sidharth Nath Singh has slammed Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, saying he makes a statement on 'figment of imagination', as he has lost connect with the people and always does politics from his air-conditioned comfort.

“It is most unfortunate that a person like Akhilesh, while sitting in an ivory tower, did not bother to mention even one of many pro-people steps taken by the Yogi Adityanath government and instead he unsuccessfully tried to run down the popular governance,'' Singh said in a statement on Wednesday, adding that Akhilesh Yadav “should show some maturity while making statements”.

The minister said that what the 'double engine' BJP government did during the last four and half years was for everyone to see and admire.

"The leaders, who based their entire politics on twitter without stepping out to help the people at the time of crisis, are raising questions of the chief minister who is always on ground with the people and for the people,” he pointed out. Singh said that starting from day one, Yogi Adityanath as chief minister only thought about farmers, women and underprivileged classes. He said the waiver of Rs 36,000 crore loans of the farmers was the first step of the Yogi government while the development in the form of construction of expressways, airports, houses for poor and a creation of conducive environment for the industry were some of his proactive measures which would serve the state for all times to come.

"It is no mean achievement that the state took a giant leap to reach at number two in Ease of Doing Business besides attracting investment by organising the most successful Investors’ Summit,'' he said. Singh said that tweeting from the drawing room was an easy thing to do but in order to become a mass leader one had to go out in the field which Yogi did, not only during the COVID-19 pandemic but all through his tenure so far. “It is no wonder that the Samajwadi Party was thrown out of power in 2017. This time also, the people do not seem in mood to back this party whose political mainstay has been 'parivarvad', he said reminding that the hallmark of the previous government had been nepotism, casteism, corruption and favouritism, unlike Bharatiya Janata Party which always followed the mantra of 'sabka saath, sabka vikas, sabka vishvas'.
