Uttar Pradesh government will introduce the much-awaited helicopter service connecting religious places of the state by September end.
Sources said that the project may be started on World Tourism Day on September 27, but there were some hiccups which needed to be resolved.
Principal Secretary (Tourism) Avnish Awasthi said that the project was on the final stage. “In the first phase, the government would introduce helicopter services connecting four cities of lucknow,Varanasi, Allahabad and Mathura. We have not yet decided when to start the scheme but we have already spoken to Pawan Hans for the services,” he said.
Earlier, the Yogi government had planned to link major tourist centres— lucknow, Mathura, Vrindavan, Ayodhya, Prayag (Allahabad), Vindhyachal, Naimisharanya, Chitrakoot, Kushinagar and Varanasi— and other places of tourist importance with helicopter service. The proposal was also included in the BJP’s poll manifesto ahead of the Assembly elections.
