To ensure selection of teachers in a transparent and effective manner, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to constitute Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission which will work as an integrated panel. The announcement was made by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in a review meeting held here on Tuesday.
“Different authorities, boards, and commissions, including the Examination Regulatory Authority, Secondary Education Service Selection Commission, and Higher Education Service Selection Commission, select teachers. Keeping in view the future requirements in the course of policy reforms, it will be appropriate to give an integrated form to the teachers’ selection commissions. Thus, Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission' should be formed,” the CM said, adding that the commission would prove to be useful in ensuring timely selection of teachers, better utilisation of human resources and financial discipline.
Yogi said the Uttar Pradesh Education Selection Commission should be given the form of an autonomous corporate body. “Guidelines will be made by the commission regarding direct recruitment of teachers in basic, secondary or higher educational institutions. In relation to the appointment of teachers, after completing the process of selection through tests and interviews, recommendation will be made to the appointing authority for the recruitment of candidates,” he said.
The chief minister asked the officials to prepare a detailed proposal, describing the nature of the new commission, qualifications of the chairman & members as well as powers and functions of the panel.
Yogi said the region has many secondary schools which are 60, 70 and 80 years old and even more, which have played an important role in enriching the educational environment of the state.
“There is a need for development of infrastructure facilities in these secondary schools aided by the government. Therefore, in view of the wider interest of teachers, students and parents, a better action plan for these schools should be prepared and presented keeping in mind the expectations and requirements of the management system,” Yogi said.
He added that the teachers’ eligibility test (TET) for primary and upper primary levels should also be held through the new commission and on time.
“Upgrading Sanskrit schools is the priority of the government. Along with development of infrastructure facilities in Sanskrit schools, scholarships should also be given to encourage students. Prepare a detailed action plan in this regard and submit it as soon as possible,” the CM said.
