UP Govt keen to collaborate with international agencies

With a view to improving the infrastructure and standards of education in the aided schools, the Uttar Pradesh government is keen to collaborate with international agencies and top corporate houses.

The Yogi Adityanath government would seek support from UNICEF and the philanthropic arm of known corporate entities viz. Piramal Foundation and Shiv Nadar Foundation in this regard.

Addressing a public function in mineral rich Sonebhadra district on Saturday , Yogi directed officials to explore taking one of the three entities on board based on their technical wherewithal eligibility to improve the standards of the government-aided schools in the region under the ‘Sone School Kayakalp’ mission.

The mission was launched last month to improve the educational standards and providing better infrastructural facilities in the district schools. Under the mission, the district authorities would approach the private organisations for financial and other support through corporate social responsibility (CSR) or crowd funding.

Shiv Nadar Foundation already operates two residential schools in UP for providing free education and other support to the students hailing from underprivileged sections of society. For transparent and meritocratic selection of these students, the Foundation works in close coordination with the state government. Meanwhile, the CM said about 17.7 students had taken admission in the government aided schools, while adequate budgetary provision had been made to provide them scholarships.
