Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that his government is committed to provide better healthcare facilities to the people and therefore has introduced polices by which government has not only appointed doctors but also provided free and cheap medicines to the people.

“This government is sensitive towards the plight of people and is alive to the problems patients suffer in the government hospitals. Therefore, from day one we are working tirelessly to provide better healthcare facilities to the poor,” Yogi said while laying foundation of projects worth Rs 37.24 crore in BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur on Monday.

He said that BRD Medical College will soon get tough competition from AIIMS. It is the responsibility of the doctors and the administrators of this college to come triumph by providing better facilities to the patients and their relatives in the college premises.

The construction of AIIMS has begun in Gorakhpur.

Chief Minister also asked doctors to be sensitive towards patients. “The doctors should show their human face towards the people who come to them for treatment. They come to them with high hopes.  A few polite words could bring a sea of change,” he said and asked the medical fraternity to visit the JE and AES infected areas and advise the people about the preventive steps they can take.

He also reviewed the Dastak Campaign, which will be launched in the encephalitis endemic region of Gorakhpur and Basti. “This disease has direct link with cleanliness. The Nagar Nigam and Nagar panchayat should ensure that the drainage pipe is not blocked. It is the responsibility of Municipal Commissioner, DPRO and Executive officer to carry out cleanliness drive in the endemic region,” he said.

Chief Minister said that such campaign cannot succeed without the active participation of the people. Therefore, the voluntary organizations and NGOs working in health sector should be roped in and they should be asked to promote cleanliness in the respective designated areas, he said.

“The AES is water borne disease. The people should be asked to use clean drinking water. Where it is not available the villagers should be asked to use water from India Mark 2 hand pump,” Chief Minister said.

Health Minister Sidharthnath Singh and Medical Education Minister Ashutosh Tandon were also present on this occasion.
