Unable to defuse growing anger amongst partymen over his style of working, UP Congress chief Raj Babbar issued notices to two senior Congress leaders - Satyadeo Tripathi and Ramendra Janwar.

Interestingly the notice was issued against former UPCC media cell chairman Satyadeo Tripathi on the basis of a media report that he sent some letter to party president Rahul Gandhi to inform him about the functioning of Babbar.

Tripathi, the senior most member of UP Congress Disciplinary Committee, was surprised with the notice and immediately replied to Babbar within 24-hours of the notice.

It is probably for the first time when a state Congress chief served disciplinary notice against a member of Disciplinary Committee which was formed by him.

Sources said that both Tripathi and Janwar turned up at UPCC office on Thursday morning and filed their replies. It also surfaced that Tripathi had expressed displeasure over the manner in which Babbar took cognizance of news reports. Sources confirmed that Tripathi questioned Babbar that why he took cognizance and issued a notice against him even when the report did not quote him for making any statement against him or the party.

Sources said that Tripathi mentioned in his reply that he sought time from party president Rahul Gandhi to discuss certain party matters. He further wrote that if hsi action came under anti-party activity or an attack against any individual, then he did not want to explain and the state Congress chief was free to take disciplinary action.
