The UP Congress attacked the BJP for playing politics over dalits and even accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi for merely showing his love towards Dr Ambedkar while the fact remained that his party and the RSS had an ‘anti-Dalit mindset’.
Addressing party workers and leaders soon after garlanding Dr Ambedkar’s portrait on his 127th birth anniversary at the state Congress headquarters in lucknow on Saturday, former minister and veteran leader, Ram Krishna Dwivedi said that the occasion should be seen for making commitment to work on the path shown by Dr Ambedkar and work for equality amongst all sections of the society by upliftment of Dalits and poor.
Dwivedi said that instead of following the path, there are many political parties who were trying to damage those values through attack on Dr Ambedkar’s statues.
“We all should be very careful from such political forces who were trying to damage the values of Dr Ambedkar to gain politically,” he asserted.
Making a direct attack on the BJP and the PM, Congress MlC Deepak Singh said that recent working of the Centre as well as the UP government clearly pointed that they were following the anti-Dalit mindset of the RSS.
“The BJP is just working with the ‘anti-Dalit’ mindset of RSS and recent attack on Dr Ambedkar’s statues, not taking up the matter related SC & ST Act in Supreme Court, attack on Dalits etc, were pointers of the same,” Singh asserted.
District Congress in-charge Vinod Mishra said that party workers had distributed fruits and sweets to the children in Dalit hamlets on the outskirts of the city. He claimed that like every year on Ambedkar Jayanti, community feast for the poor was also organised.
Meanwhile, spokesperson of Congress SC & ST Cell, Siddhishree said that the party would soon hold a `Dalit Sammelan’ at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi on April 23. She claimed that all office bearers of SC & ST Cell along with other senior leaders would attend the meet and decide on the future course of action to take on the BJP’s ‘anti-Dalit mindset’.
