Blaming Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the total collapse of health infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh leading to rising number of deaths due to Covid-19, UP Congress president Ajay Kumar Lallu demanded the situation to be declared as a `State Health Emergency’.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had mentioned that a national health emergency like situation was prevailing across the country and the government should take necessary measures immediately.
Condemning the Yogi government, Lallu alleged that the ruling BJP and the Chief Minister were responsible for the collapse of the health system. He said that several people were engaged in black marketing of COVID-19 medicines, oxygen cylinders while the government had preferred to remain a mute spectator.  He also criticized the government order of not providing oxygen to patients without proper prescription.
“When numerous people have and were dying due to paucity of oxygen, such orders indicate the lack of sensitivity of the BJP government and apathy for saving human lives. Even as the government announced 96 more private hospitals as Covid hospital, it failed to ensure that critical patients were admitted without delay and there was no shortage of oxygen and live saving medicines,” asserted Lallu claiming that the.
Further attacking the government over the insensitive approach of officers, the Congress leader alleged that officials in charge of COVID-19 control room in Lucknow were neither meeting people nor attending to calls of those in distress which is pointer to the grim situation that prevailed in Lucknow. He said that when such was the situation in the state capital, the condition in other districts was anybody’s guess.
“On a daily basis, the chief minister has been issuing statements of taking stern action against officers but in Lucknow, officers are neither meeting people nor picking their calls. There is no one to hear the grievances of the deperate and distressed people. Will the CM care to tell the people why no action was being taken against such incompetent and insensitive officers,” Lallu questioned.
