Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel have hailed the Union budget for 2021-22.
Yogi Adityanath, on Monday, said that the Union budget would work to speed up the economy and empower every citizen of the country financially.
"The present general budget is in accordance with the intention of public welfare and a self-reliant India. The budget has taken care of every class, including farmers, middle class, poor and women. It will work to speed up the economy and empower every citizen of the country financially," the chief minister said in a tweet.
Governor Anandiben Patel said this was the first digital budget which would go a long way in promoting transparency, ease of doing business and curb corruption.
The Governor said it was a development-oriented budget which would help the economy battered by the pandemic as Rs 15,700 crore had been provided for the MSME sector. She said the budget would realise the dream of a self-reliant India.
The Governor also welcomed the vehicle scrappage policy for private cars and commercial vehicles, saying it would help in curbing air pollution.
Yogi Adityanath said the Budget 2021-22 was farmer-friendly and would boost the economy and empower citizens.
He said at a time when big economies of the world were in crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this budget was practical and development-oriented.
He also hailed the decision to set up 100 new Sainik Schools in partnership with non-governmental organisations (NGOs), private schools and states.
The chief minister also lauded the Union budget for including urban areas in Jal Jeevan Mission. He said that the announcement for setting up mega textile parks would help generate more jobs.
Yogi Adityanath said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given 1.5 times MSP (minimum support price) to farmers and the announcement of linking additional 1,000 APMC with eNAM would help guarantee that farmers got 1.5 times MSP for their produce.
He praised the government for taking various steps for farmers' welfare
Speaking on the announcements around MSMEs, Yogi Adityanath said that this sector was considered as an engine of growth. He said the budgetary provisions made for the sector would prove to be a booster for it.
He also lauded the move to make the budget paperless or digital and the allocation towards the first ever digital Census to be carried out this year. He said all these steps would ensure that correct figures were there for all to see.
Yogi Adityanath said that this budget would be beneficial for all strata of society and reflected the vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.
UP Finance Minister Suresh Khanna, while welcoming the Union budget, said that besides creating fresh job opportunities, it would help India achieve a 5-trillion USD economy status.
He said the budget was encouraging for all sections of society and besides strengthening the economy it provided relief to the senior citizens.
Welcoming the allocation for the infrastructure, Khanna said Rs 1.18 lakh crore for roads and highways, Rs 1.10 lakh crore for Railways, Rs 11,000 for 1,016 km of metro rails in 27 cities and electrification of 46,000 km of railway tracks would be a major booster for the economy.
Khanna also welcomed the measures announced for the simplification of the Goods and Services Tax and digital Census. He said the budget had strengthened the spirit of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikaas and Sabka Vishwaas.
Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party criticised the budget, saying it was directionless and had disappointed the poor, women, farmers and the youth and no relief had been announced for the middle class.
SP president Akhilesh Yadav also criticised the privatisation of the public sector undertakings (PSUs) and monetisation of the PSU assets, saying the government was making efforts to mobilise resources by selling family silver.  He also questioned the government's claim of making India a 5-trillion USD economy.
On budget announcement for opening 100 Sainik Schools in association with NGOs, the SP chief said the government might assign the job to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh or its affiliate organisations.
SP general secretary Ramgopal Yadav resorted to a bizarre line of questioning the Union budget, as he wanted to know why the 2021-22 budget was paperless.
While presenting the budget, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman replaced the swadeshi 'bahi khata' and switched to a tablet.
Ramgopal Yadav categorically stated that his party had no expectations from the Centre regarding the budget. He also asked if the printing of other documents had been stopped by the government.
