A 12-year-old girl was raped in Firozabad while in Moradabad, a minor girl was raped by her stepfather during the last 24 hours.
In Firozabad, a young girl accompanied by a transgender acquaintance from Kanpur came to the city on Saturday to attend a Kinnar Sammelan organised from January 1 to 14. The same night, the driver of the car which took them to Firozabad, raped the 12-year-old girl finding her alone in a guest house in Shikohabad.
After the victim complained to the police, she was sent for medical examination, after which an FIR was registered against the driver on Sunday and he was arrested.
In Moradabad, a woman with two kids – a 12-year-old girl and a minor son -- got married to a 40-year-old man after a brief courtship two years back. Soon after the family started living together, the husband started sexually abusing the step daughter while his wife was away at her work place.
Following a complaint by the 12-year-old survivor's mother, the police booked the 40-year-old accused under relevant provisions on Sunday.
Recently, the landlord had informed the woman about her husband subjecting her minor daughter to sexual abuse over a period of time. On being asked by her mother, the victim confirmed she was indeed being assaulted repeatedly and was threatened of dire consequences if she complained to her mother or anyone else.
Subsequently, the girl's mother filed a police complaint against her husband and a case was registered under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused was arrested and sent to jail while the girl was sent for medical examination.
