Two persons, including a newly wedded groom, died and six members of a family fell ill after consuming poisonous milk in Madnapur police station in Shahjahanpur district on Saturday night.
Police said that eight members of a family were celebrating a post-marriage ceremony of Hariom and had taken milk after the dinner at Bilgana village.But all of them started vomiting after consuming the milk and were rushed to the hospital. Hariom (19) and his mother Rambeti (45) died during the treatment while six others were still admitted to the hospital which included the newly wedded bride. Police was investigating the case.
Meanwhile, two youths were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between two motorcycles under Khetasarai police station area of Jaunpur district late on Saturday night.
Police said that the incident occurred near Mani village. While Raju Sahu (25) and Kamaruddin (28), the duo on a motorcycle, died on the spot due to excessive bleeding, Atif (18) and Amir (20) were critically injured and have been rushed to hospital in Varanasi. Preliminary investigation revealed that both the motorcycles were running on high speed and Atif and his pillion rider Amir were going on the wrong direction.
