Two brothers were found dead with their throats slit in Deoria on Wednesday, the police said.
Both the brothers were brutally hacked to death. The local police rushed to the spot and arrested the stepmother and her son on allegations that they had killed both over property dispute. A knife and a dagger were recovered from the spot.
As per Deoria’s Superintendent of Police Shripati Mishra, Srinavas, a resident of Devtaha Chitai village, works in Dubai and has two wives – Mansa Devi and Kusum. He had two sons Ajay (18) and Abhisekh (15) from his first wife and one son, Raju, from his second wife.
Mishra said that the incident came into light when around 5 am on Wednesday, Mansa Devi found both her sons lying on their beds with their throats slit. Their clothes were soaked in blood. Mansa Devi immediately raised an alarm following which the local residents came and both were taken to the hospital where the doctors pronounced them dead.
Circle Officer of Rudrapur, Jilajeet, who also visited the spot, claimed that the preliminary investigation showed that around 5 am in the morning, the accused stepmother Kusum along with her son Raju and daughter-in-law Archana committed the murders when Devi was not at home.
The three accused were arrested and the bodies were sent for post-mortem.
According to a police spokesman, the motive behind the murders, revealed during preliminary investigation, was property dispute.
The father of the deceased had two wives and the dispute was between the victims, Ajay and Abhishek, and their stepbrother, Raju.
Meanwhile, a pregnant woman was allegedly raped by a member of the cleaning staff in a hospital in Mirzapur. The woman had gone to the washroom when the accused allegedly forced himself on her.
Top police officials as well as the district hospital authorities are investigating the matter. The incident took place in the divisional hospital of Mirzapur on the night of May 7.
The woman, who was three months pregnant, had been taken to the hospital by her husband after she fell ill. Between 9 and 10 pm, the victim had gone to the washroom in her ward while the hospital was being cleaned.
According to her allegations, a worker barged into the bathroom, undressed her and threw away her clothes, gagged and raped her. When she finally let out a scream, the accused escaped but was seen by other women who reached the spot after hearing the victim.
She was then discharged from the hospital, after which she went home and narrated the incident to her husband. Her husband took her to the district women's hospital where she was admitted. They then filed a report of the whole incident with the police.
The hospital's head, Praveen Kumar, and Superintendent of Police Ajay K Singh also reached to inquire about the incident from the victim and her husband. Kumar said a video related to the incident was found and a team was constituted to nab the accused.
