Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav on Saturday reiterated that a third front government would take oath at the Centre after the polls.
Addressing a party rally at Babupurwa Bagahi grounds here on Saturday afternoon, Yadav asserted that the third front government at the Centre would be led by the Samajwadi
Party. He said if the SP was voted to power, he would increase the income-tax limit to Rs.2.50 lakh and the age of retirement to 65 years. Making a scathing attack on Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate, Yadav said the much-hyped Gujarat Model of development of Narendra Modi was baseless and far from truth.
"In the year 2010, Modi had announced to launch metro rail in his state (Gujarat) but he is yet to implement it," he said and added that prices of diesel and petrol were also higher
in Gujarat. Yadav said the dream of Modi to become India's prime minister would remain uncherished. He said the BJP prime ministerial candidate had now realised this and had become disheartened.
Hitting out at the Congress, the SP supremo said the party leading the United Progressive Alliance government was exposed by the Planning Commission in its reports about availability of meal at Rs 28 in villages and Rs 33 in cities. While assuring the people that the third front government would accord priority to farmers, Yadav pointed out that earlier 58 per cent people of the country depended on agriculture but now their number had been reduced to 14 per cent.
Yadav said the real picture of Gujarat was that the condition of its farmers was pathetic and there were around 85 lakh registered unemployed persons there. Besides, he said, around 8,000 villages were deprived even of potable water and around 7,000 farmers were forced to commit suicide there. Moreover, work on the Sardar Sarovar project had not yet commenced in Gujarat.Criticising the Congress for depriving Muslims of their due share, Yadav said after the Sachar Committee submitted its report, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was asked to enforce it but he preferred to keep mum on it. Yadav said if SP was voted to power, it would provide free education and set up a commission or committee to solve the problem of unemployment.
The SP chief praised Muslims for their contribution in nation's progress. He appealed to the gathering to ensure victory of SP candidate Surendra Mohan Agarwal from Kanpur lok
Sabha constituency.
