A day after Bahujan Samaj Party and Samajwadi Party announced an alliance in Uttar Pradesh for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav’s visit to Lucknow has raised the possibility of strengthening of the newly-formed gathbandhan.

Tejashwi Yadav came to Lucknow on Sunday night and is likely to meet Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav on Monday.

A senior RJD leader said that Tejashwi Yadav would have one-to-one meeting with both Akhilesh and Mayawati.

“These meetings after both SP and BSP have declared their alliance are important. He (Tejashwi Yadav) is here to support the alliance,” the RLD leader said.

Tejashwi Yadav, who is leader of opposition in the Bihar legislative assembly and the youngest opposition leader in the country, is expected to announce RJD’s support to the BSP-SP alliance in UP.
