Amid efforts to contain the spread of coronavirus, Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board on Thursday directed its ‘mutawallis’ (caretakers) and other committees and individuals concerned to take effective measures to stop crowds from gathering in mosques, madrasas and dargahs coming under the Waqf.
In a statement issued in Lucknow, the UP Sunni Central Waqf Board said that while following the advice given by ulemas as regards namaz in mosques, prayers should be offered at homes so that the virus infection does not spread and people remain safe.
The Sunni Waqf Board statement also said that ‘mutawallis’ had been asked to ensure 100 percent compliance with the directions and guidelines and they would be personally held responsible for any lapse.
