Strength of a country lies in its unity: CM Yogi

Pioneer News Service

The strength of a country is its unity and when 135 crore people speak collectively together the country not only emerges in the world as the biggest democracy but also appears to guide the world as the mother of all democracies. If we are divided on the basis of caste, creed, language and religion it will only divide the strength of the country and make it weak, restrict its development and give birth to anarchy and mismanagement that can again raise problems against the freedom of the country.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed these views at the anniversary celebrations of the Kakori train action at the venue of the action scene in Kakori on Tuesday. He said it was important to see that the country does not get weak again.

The chief minister said that by taking the pledge of unity “we will work together removing all the differences and move forward to develop the state of UP”.

“It is for this reason that while joining with the pledge of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the UP government has also decided that in the next five years the state will emerge as a big economy,” he said.

Yogi Adityanath said that while adopting the ease of doing business the government would make life easy for the people of the state, including youth, farmers and women, and work on such projects that would give Uttar Pradesh an identity and respect to every citizen of the state.

“Taking forward this coordination between identity and respect for every person of Uttar Pradesh, we have gathered at the anniversary celebrations of the Kakori Train Action,” he said.

The chief minister said that the venue of the famous train action at Kakori in 1925 was like a pilgrimage centre now because of the sacrifice of the revolutionaries.

He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected each citizen to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and also observe August 14 as the Partition Remembrance Day in every district to highlight the horrors of those times through exhibitions for the younger generation.

“This determination always gives us the inspiration to move forward and forces us to think about the country. We all should join in the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with determination and enthusiasm,” he added.

Yogi said that when the country was fighting for its independence, starting from 1857, the freedom struggle continuously went on and despite the many cruel acts, the Britishers could not stop the revolutionaries and in the end in August 1947 the country got independence.

“Uttar Pradesh is fortunate that the first bugle for independence was sounded in the state itself, whether it was the spark lit by freedom fighter Mangal Pandey or the rebellion of the Rani of Jhansi that she would not give her Jhansi, or whether it was various incidents for freedom struggle which took place throughout the state to take the revolution to great heights,” he said.

Yogi said that in 1922, the Chauri Chaura incident took place in Gorakhpur and in   1925, the Kakori Train Action took place in which the revolutionaries looted Rs 4,679.

“For this amount, Rs 10 lakh was spent by the Britishers to catch the revolutionaries. Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil, under whose leadership the Kakori Train Action took place, was put in the Gorakhpur jail. Ashfaquallah Khan, Thakur Roshan Singh and Rajendra Nath Lahiri were imprisoned in Gonda, Faizabad and Naini jails. Chandra Shekhar Azad, while fighting against the British rulers, was martyred at Prayagraj but the flame of revolution did not die and the country kept on fighting for its freedom and the result was that in the freedom struggle fought under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi and the sacrifices of revolutionaries such as Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, the country was able to attain freedom in 1947,” he said.

The chief minister said that on August 15, when 75 years of independence complete, the whole country would become a witness to the Amrit Mahotsav.

“The prime minister has kept a target before the country that it should prepare a working strategy when the country completes hundred years of independence. He said that the people should decide as to what kind of country they would like to see when the country completes hundred years of Independence,” Yogi said.
