PNS

Strict guidelines from the top to UP Police personnel on not harassing youths in the name of `Anti-Romeo’ drive have failed to cut ice with the incumbents. Or so it seems.

An Inspector in Budaun was booked for allegedly sending indecent messages to a woman and threatening her father while three cops were suspended for shaving off a youth’s head allegedly for eveteasing in Shahjahenpur.

In Banda, the victim girl, a Civil Services aspirant, complained to IG Bareilly Zone Vijay Prakash that Bisauli police station in-charge of in Badaun SP Upadhaya, was texting her indecent messages and pressurising her to enter into a relationship with him. She also alleged that the cop threatened to frame her father in a fake case ifshe did not playball. The Inspector got in touch with the girl after she complained to him that some youths were harassing her by making calls.

After finding the charges primarily true, the IG got an FIR registered under relevant sections of the IPC and Section 67 of the IT Act and removed the cop from the police station. Further investigations are on in the matter.

In Shahjehanpur, three policemen were suspended after a video of some persons shaving the head of a youth roaming with a female friend went viral on the social media. The incident took place on March 22 after residents of South City Colony called the police on finding the couplewalking around. The over zealous rushed to thescene caught the youth and shaved off his hair ‘to teach him a lesson’.

A constable captured the incident on his phone camera and later sent the video to his friend through WhatsApp after which it went viral and the incident came to light.

SP, Shahjahenpur, KB Singh said on Saturday that three constables — Suheel Ahmed, layek Ahmed and Sonpal — have been suspended and an inquiry has been initiated against in-charge of Azizganj police outpost KK Chaudhary, who tried to hush up the matter.

Meanwhile in Muzaffarnagar, a female hostel warden of a school where girl students were forced to strip was booked in a case and suspended from service.

A case was registered against the principal under section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 509 (outraging the modesty of women) of IPC. A magisterial inquiry will be carried out by Sub-divisional Magistrate Renu Singh.

A group of junior class girls were threatened and forced to strip by the accused on Thursday on the pretext of checking for menstrual blood stains.

“There was no teacher around. We were called downstairs (from the hostel). Madam made us take off our clothes saying she will beat us if we did not. What could we do IJ” said one of the students.

The hostel warden however denied the allegations.  “No one asked them to remove clothes. All this is a conspiracy by the staff because they do not want me to stay here. I had been asked to check whether the staff were performing their duties. I am strict, that is why they hate me,” she said.
