With an aim to strengthen secondary education in the state Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that his government will develop model schools on the lines of Navodaya Vidyalaya and if need be these would be affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

“The State Government is committed to improve education standard in state-run schools. WE are of the firm belief that a state can progress only if the children and the youth are educated. The light of knowledge dispels superstition and make a state and a country strong,” Yadav said during a review meeting of the secondary education here on Thursday.

He said that all the model schools across the state should be developed on the lines of Navodaya Vidalaya where students will be imparted quality education. If need be the government can initiate the process of affiliating these institutions with CBSE, Chief Minister.

The Navodaya Vidyalayas across the country have hogged limelight after a number of students of these institutions have cracked JEE this year. Many of the poor students from UP who were studying in Navodaya Vidyalaya in Pune were able to crack IIT. These students were honoured by State government.

Chief Minister asked the officials to make the education system more innovative and strong so that students could adapt to the changes. “The world around us is changing very fast. Their education system should also change. They should be exposed to the new learning methods,” he said.

Yadav also spoke about distribution of laptops among the students saying this initiative of the government has bridged the digital divide. The poor who earlier was deprived of internet facilities can avail it now because of the laptop given by our government, he said.

“The Government is committed to strengthen education at all level. Our focus is on basic, secondary, technical and higher education. Schools are being set up in all the gram sabhas and new universities too are being constructed at all district headquarters. The government is committed to provide quality education to the students,” he said.
